BRANDON REIBELING

I AM A VERSATILE COMMERCIAL DESIGNER & ILLUSTRATOR. I'M ALSO AN AVID CARTOON/TOY ENTHUSIAST.

A NATIVE MINNESOTAN, GRADUATED WITH HIGHEST HONORS IN COMMERCIAL ART

I HAVE LOVED ILLUSTRATION, TYPOGRAPHY, COLOR AND CHARACTER DESIGN AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER.

I HAVE MY FAMILY TO THANK FOR ALL THIS, ENCOURAGING ME TO DIVE DEEP INTO MY IMAGINATION.

WITH A HEALTHY SUPPLY OF PAPER, CARDBOARD BOXES AND CRAYONS, MY BROTHER AND I WOULD CREATE ALMOST EVERY CARTOON CHARACTER ON WEEKDAY AND SATURDAY MORNING CARTOON SHOWS. WE DIDN'T HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY MANY TOYS, SO WE WOULD CREATE/COLOR THE CHARACTERS ON SHEETS OF PAPER & CUT THEM OUT. ALONGSIDE MAKING ALL THE VEHICLES AND FORTRESSES FROM CARDBOARD.

MY STORY IS SIMILAR TO OTHER ARTISTIC KIDS THAT GREW UP IN THE 80'S AND EARLY 90'S:

FASCINATED BY THE BEHIND THE SCENE MAKINGS OF CARTOONS AND MOVIES. THE EFFECTS, THE BACKGROUND SETS AND HOW ACTORS COULD JUMP INTO CHARACTER, BE IT:

HE-MAN, TRANSFORMERS, GHOSTBUSTERS or THE GOONIES.

I WOULD NOT TRADE MY CHILDHOOD FOR ALL OF THE LATEST AND GREATEST TECH WE HAVE TODAY. LIFE BEFORE THE INTERNET WAS A MAJOR BLESSING IN DISGUISE.  KIDS MY AGE SPENT ENDLESS HOURS IN FREE OUTDOOR PLAY, THANKSGIVING WAS AN ACTUAL RESPECTED HOLIDAY. FAMILY TELEVISION WAS ABOUT FAMILY VALUES:

FAMILY TIES, WHO'S THE BOSS and DIFFERENT STROKES.

THIS ALL HAD AN IMMENSE INFLUENCE ON MY WORK ETHIC,

TO NOT JUST SETTLE FOR "GOOD ENOUGH"

TO ALWAYS CHALLENGE/PUSH YOURSELF PAST THE EASY WAY OUT AND ONTO SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF.
